Headless BJP?
searching for a president

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is in a fix after Nitin Gadkari’s alleged involvement in corruption charges. If the sources are to be believed, the RSS top brass has made up its mind not to back Gadkari. RSS believes that the current political storm within the country could pave the way for the BJP to return to power. Therefore, it is important to send out the message that the RSS will not tolerate any corrupt politician at the head of the BJP. The paradox is that Bhagwat is surrounded by two inexperienced hands, Bhayya Joshi, General Secretary, and Suresh Soni, Joint General Secretary. Bhayya Joshi does not have much experience beyond Nagpur and Maharashtra. He is not well networked beyond RSS workers. Same is the situation with Suresh; he is only Madhya Pradesh centric. Reportedly, the search for the new BJP president is on. A moot point being cautiously stressed by the RSS is that ideology is more important than an individual. In the given circumstances RSS zeroed in on Murli Manohar Joshi but sources inform that L K Advani opposed his selection. A party which claims it does not have a dearth of leaders cannot find a suitable leader to head its party and the person who is suitable is not allowed to head the party. What a farce!
