Energy pricing in doldrums
The UPA has embraced the soft option of increased dependence on imported coal, gas and crude oil instead of going for energy self-sufficiency

The UPA Government has thrown up its hands over rational energy pricing and energy self-sufficiency. It is groping for crutches to steer the country out of the muck-racking politics over energy pricing, especially with regard to offshore Krishna Godavari (KG) basin gas. It just does not how to balance the conflicting interests of energy producers and consumers without compromising national energy security and ultimately create competitive energy markets. It continues to love soft options notwithstanding warnings about the economy needing bitter medicine. The 12th Plan, beginning April 1, 2012, has enhanced imports of coal, gas and crude oil as its pillars. READ MORE…
